New Height Adjustable Change Table Helps At Sydney Children's Hospital
Caredesign recently donated a height adjustable change table to Sydney Children's Hospital (SCH) at Randwick, which has now been installed within the accessible bathroom located on level one. This installation is the first of its kind for SCH, and one that could see further additions at similar types of hospitals in the near future.
With the importance of implementing a "No Lifting Policy", an adjustable height change table assists dramatically in alleviating problems associated with patient manual handling issues where carer involvement is required.
The adjustability of the bench has two major benefits, in that it can be lowered down to wheelchair height to aid transfer, whilst raising to a position where the optimum height for carers can be attained without them stooping, and putting additional strain on their backs.
It was great for Caredesign, part of Enware to present the product to SCH, which was accepted by Phyllis Moran Chief of Nursing. The height adjustable change table is suited to many applications such as hospitals, schools, child care and aquatic facilities where frequent lifting and handling often occurs.
